Common problems
AC problems we fix every day
- Blowing warm air: often a failed capacitor, low refrigerant from a leak, or a dirty coil.
- Won't turn on: tripped breakers, blown fuses, bad contactors or thermostat wiring.
- Short cycling: the system turns on and off every few minutes, usually from airflow or sizing issues.
- Ice on the lines or coil: restricted airflow or low refrigerant.
- Water leaking indoors: a clogged condensate drain or cracked drain pan.
- Loud buzzing, grinding or squealing: worn fan motors, bearings or loose parts.
- High bills, weak cooling: a system working too hard to keep up.
Before you call
Quick checks you can do
Some AC problems have simple fixes. Before scheduling a repair, try these:
- Make sure the thermostat is set to Cool and below room temperature, and replace its batteries.
- Check the breaker panel for a tripped AC or furnace breaker.
- Replace a dirty air filter. A clogged filter can freeze the coil.
- Clear leaves and debris from around the outdoor unit.

How our repair visits work
A licensed technician tests your system, explains what's wrong in plain language, and gives you the repair price before any work begins. If a repair doesn't make sense for an older system, we'll tell you honestly and show you your replacement options.
